Ep 309: Trusting the Timing of Your Success with Katie Scott
This week, I had the pleasure of visiting with Katie Scott, who just qualified for her first National Finals Rodeo. What stood out most in our conversation wasn’t just her success — it was the patience, faith, and perseverance that carried her there.
Katie’s story is one a lot of us can relate to. She grew up in Andrews, Texas, competed in just about every event you can think of, and admits that barrel racing wasn’t always her strongest suit. But she kept showing up, kept learning, and kept finding ways to get better. Those early years — the tough runs, the close calls, and the days that didn’t go as planned — were all part of building the horsewoman and competitor she’s become today.
As we talked, Katie shared something that hit home: “Before you go high, you’ve got to go deep.” That’s true in rodeo, horsemanship, and life. The hard times — the ones that make you question your path — are often the same moments that prepare you for your greatest opportunities. Katie talked about surrendering to God’s timing and learning to find peace in the valleys, even when things don’t make sense in the moment. That perspective, and her ability to stay present, has shaped not just her year but her outlook on life.
This conversation was a great reminder that success doesn’t always come on our timeline. Sometimes, the moments that feel like setbacks are really setups for something better. Katie’s story is proof that when you keep working, keep learning, and keep your faith at the center of it all, the timing always works out exactly how it’s supposed to.
