Ep 4: The Importance of Investing in Yourself

Be Your Best_Ep4.jpg

Investing in yourself—it’s a very broad and diverse subject.

If you are listening or reading along with today’s episode, you’re already making an investment toward improving your knowledge and understanding. You’ve probably heard the saying, “knowledge is power,” but this is true only if you apply that knowledge.

When you begin sharing your knowledge and experiences with others, that is when you begin to make an impact. That is the point when you begin to use your knowledge to not only help yourself, but to help others, too.

Investing in yourself doesn’t always mean going out and spending money to improve some aspect of your life. Investing in yourself is more about the process of gathering knowledge that you can pass along to others. When you invest in yourself, you are being a leader.

Take a moment to audit what you’re consuming. Are you taking actions to improve yourself physically, mentally, and/or financially? Are you educating yourself? Are you projecting a positive attitude? All good things that come 5-6 months from now are a result of what you’re doing right now. Are you on the path you want to be on that will propel you toward achieving your goals?

It is important to note that investing in yourself doesn’t have to be a huge financial undertaking. Start by making small investments that don’t cost you money. Start by investing your time. Making a few simple changes in your morning routine is one way that you can kick-start your personal growth. As you grow, there will be times that are appropriate to make a monetary investment, but you have to be self-aware enough to know when that time is.

If you’re not growing, you’re dying. Always keep investing in yourself. Keep working hard, and keep striving to be 1% better than you were the day before.
